Glurge is another name for extremely sickly-sweet, religious/inspirational or otherwise emotional blindsiding via chain mail. Glurge is intended to switch off the brain and turn on the tear ducts. Its tug-at-the-heart emotional manhandling is meant to grab the reader by the heartstrings so tight they are rendered incapable of questioning anything about it and will do what the chain letter eventually instructs in one way or another, and that is to "forward it" "pass it on" forward, forward, forward.
