-I can see somebody getting manipulated and forgetting to think clearly when a nasty hoax hits on a subject very close to home with them - not that that's any excuse either; but when people who should know better, blindly forward drippy chain letters with the most ludicrous and wacked out claims, and I really hate those that claim to be "blessings" from God - it's just argh! Religious chain email debases Christians, it doesn't bless them!
-I really believe there must be some sort of chemical or hormonal change that afflicts people who pass on chain letters whenever they see anything that has "Pass it on to all your friends" "You must send this to x number of people within x amount of time" and words like "friend" or "hug" "love" "smile" "luck" "bless" "God" "Jesus" and especially if "fw" or "fwd" is seen anywhere in the subject line. It's like a bad drug that kills massive amounts of brain cells while switching off the part of the brain that's responsible for rational thought. Chain email over-zaps the part of the brain responsible for emotion and triggers the chain addict to abandon all reason and thought and give in completely to whatever they see on the monitor telling them to spam their friends and anyone else in their address lists.
- Sally Jowell cavea_videre sent an utterly annoying canned friendship/religious spam chain letter forward to angel23c as well as these addresses:
Date: Thu, 20 Sep 2007 21:18:39 -0700 (PDT)
From: Sally Jowell cavea_videre
Subject: REMEMBER
-Also comes with subjects like
Subject: FW: There are 12 months
And this is news to you?
-Was it necessary to send this chain to the same person at two different addresses including a k12 address!? Gads, man!
-angel23c who is hopelessly addicted to sending stupid chain letters, forwarded it to the following addresses, including mine - which is how I ended up as did everybody else, getting a collection of strange email addresses:
From: "angel23c" angel23c
Subject: Fwd: REMEMBER
To: Gina Dusza ginadusza, Tory Ervin MrParlay2K4,
Sally Jowell cavea_videre,
-OMG did Angel just send this freakin thing back to Sally who sent it out to her in the first place! Or maybe Angel originally sent it to Sally who sent it back to Angel, who sent it back to Sally yet again - ugh! How sad! Gah! Unbelievable! You know when it's time to get off the net when you're so addicted to chain email that you actually do this - and all you ever send is chain email forwards!
"Denise Howard Denta\)" dnice71, me me@myaddresssnippedout,
Michael Cash armstrmc, castelmain,
Jody Churchill red_headed_swede,
Paul Cjaka paul,
"Asa G. Dibble" asa_dibble,
Janet Duzak nicholette68,
Jackie Aguilar jac913
-So don't anybody dare to complain to me for this reply. If anybody wants to get upset about their addresses ending up in the hands of a stranger, complain to Sally and Angel who sent the unwelcome chain email in the first place and put all our email adresses and names in the Cc: field for all to see!

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you guys that I am so grateful
to have each of you in my life.
-Which is why I get to be one of the unfortunates to be sent yet another chain email I suppose!
I hope you all have
a wonderful and blessed day.
-I'd believe that if you wrote a personal note instead of putting a curse in my inbox with this chain letter and causing annoyance instead of an "Oh, cool, hi there, what's happening!?" which is what you would've gotten if you'd bothered to send your own written note instead.!
It was difficult for me
to decide who I thought would DO this because many
people claim to pray, but not everyone does.
*Rolling eyes in extreme exhasperation* Really, when people pray, how they pray, and what they pray is between them and God, and not for some freakin pseudo-religious chain letter to manipulate people into believing. The twit who wrote this thing doesn't really know who prays and how and what and where. But golly, let's throw some religious references and make it sound like Christianity is on the brink of extinction and get all the Christians forwarding this thing madly around the internet! Gah!
-As for who to choose to send this to, you lot would've been better off not sending it to anyone, not me, not anyone! It's chain email, it's manipulation, it's fake as the day is long, and its ultimate goal is to get mass-produced all over the net and back for infinity, just like all other chain email forwards!
I hope
I chose the right twelve.
-Do you have any idea how snobbish and elitist that sounds? So I'm part of "the chosen right twelve" Woo-hoo! I get to get more chain emails that are fake and manipulative crap, and I hate chain letters in all their forms!
Please send this back to
me. (You'll see why.)
-The only thing I can see right now is red. For goodness sake what the heck is wrong with people that makes them think sending chain emails back to the previous senders and copies to themselves is actually cool? Who wants a zillion copies of the same damn chain!? We try to get rid of email viruses, but when you pass on chains, and if everybody did exactly what the chain said, the internet would crash! Why are we so worried about viruses when forwarders are acting as viruses by reproducing copies and copies of the same stupid chains all over the place and giving their emails and that of their friends out to spammers by way of the Cc: field?
May everyone who receives this
message be blessed.
-I would've been blessed if this chain letter had not intruded into my inbox like a bad smell! And no, this is not the first time somebody got duped into passing the wretched thing along!
REMEMBER to pray.
-Don't give me that! Yes, I go to church. Yes I am a Christian. Yes I do remember to pray. No, I don't need people sending manipulative fake religious chain email telling me to "remember to pray" after all, it's possible some anti-Christian may have put this darn forward in motion to begin with in order to control the email habits of Christians and get a laugh out of it.
That's all you have to do. There is nothing
attached.
-Yeah right...Nothing is attached, like the following demands, I suppose...:
Just send this to twelve.
-Yes, that is something attached. So the phrase above that nothing is attached is a bald-faced lie...
Prayer is one of
the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost but
a lot of reward. Make sure you pray, and pray
believing that God will answer.
-DUH! Yeah - I know - I pray - I have prayed - I know what prayer is - I do know how to pray - I was not born yesterday - I am not a small child - I am not brain-dead - I do remember to pray on my own - I don't always always remember to do it every single night and at every single sit-down at dinner - but I do pray to god when I do remember to - and I do not pray whenever a chain email barges into my inbox and demands me to pray unless it's a prayer for the strength to resist the urge to tear my hair out, scream and toss my computer across the room - I worship God, I do not worship chain email or the chain email version of a god that only "blesses" a certain twelve people or only "blesses" people who pass on crap... I know praying is part of being a Christian - because I am a Christian - I was raised as one - I do not need or appreciate sappy insincere chain email written by who knows and passed around from who knows all around the net to who knows - telling me to pray and remember to pray and that I should believe God will answer - and then to pass this blasted thing on to twelve people - I'm not about to do anything so inconsiderate to my friends - I respect my friends too much and know better than to fall for this manipulative spam in the first place!
May today be all that you need it to be.
-It was - but I also got something I sure as heck didn't need, this chain letter email forward!
May the
peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit
rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams tonight
and conquer all your fears. May God manifest himself
today in ways that you have never experienced. May
your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer and
your prayers be answered. I pray that faith enters a
new height for you; I pray that your territory is
enlarged and I pray that you step into your destiny
within the ministry. I pray for peace, health,
happiness and true and undying love for God.
-Yet this so-called prayer and others just like it along with the urging to "send it on!" has been circulated from zillions of forwarders to zillions more emails, forums, address lists and mailing lists. It falls particularly flat when the people who send these things NEVER send anything else but chain email! Yeah, I'm so convinced I've been so much thought of because I'm one of "the chosen special twelve who needs a reminder to remember to pray" Give me a break!
Now, send this to 12 people within the next 5
minutes and remember to send this back...I count as
1...you'll see why.
-As I said before, no! And there's no way I'm sending it back to you! What do you want with tons of copies of this preachy, bogus crap that tells you to choose twelve people and forward it within the next few seconds to get blessed? Wake up!
If you donâ?Tt forward this for
whatever reason, nothing bad will happen to you.
-That's okay, the bad thing already happened to me - I received it in the first place!
It
will just encourage people to pray for one
anotherâ?¦
-That depends on how easily manipulated you are. If you take every chain email as the gospel truth and regard all other warnings against passing around this stuff, you're going to think it's an encouragement to pray, and you might actually even stop and say some kind of prayer right on the spot in order to please the chain email god, give yourself a little pat on the back for "remembering to pray" and being such a good little Christian forwarder and imagine all the love that will come flowing in as and if any of your "friends" send it back to you, so with that idea you then take it a step further and please whoever originated the chain letter and continue mass-producing it by way of forwarding it to your "chosen twelve".
-I know better, and won't do any such thing!
Have a Blessed Dayâ?¦ J
-I wish I could say the same to you - but...Right now I'm too ticked off.
Suggestion: copy and paste rather than forward
-Same thing, it's still spammy chain email disguised as friendship/religion and cut and pasted or not, if it's sent anywhere it's still forwarded.
-Better suggestion: break the chain, don't send it to anyone!
